The North Los Angeles County Regional Center (NLACRC) has immediate opportunities for licensed psychologists as independent contractors (“vendors”) to perform psychological assessments for children and adults.
The Psychologist Vendor will perform comprehensive psychological evaluations for NLACRC consumers and individuals applying for regional center services. An individual is eligible for regional center services if they have a developmental disability as defined in California law and regulation. This definition includes the following conditions: Intellectual Disability, Autism, Epilepsy, Cerebral Palsy, and/or Condition similar to Intellectual Disability.
The Psychologist Vendor will provide the following services:
*Meet with pediatric or adult consumers at NLACRC offices in Chatsworth or Lancaster, the psychologist’s own office or, when needed, at other locations such as hospitals, schools, forensic settings and other facilities.
*Conduct observation, interview, and assessment of children and adults utilizing best practice standards in the field of Autism and Intellectual Disability.
*May answer questions about developmental disabilities and related therapeutic interventions and services.
*May provide referral information for applicable outside community agencies if indicated.
*Provide a written report in a timely fashion.
*Collaborate with Regional Center staff, including physicians, psychologists, and social workers.
Education, Experience, and Skills:
A current California License as a Psychologist with no record of disciplinary action.
Knowledge of and experience with prior testing in the field of developmental disabilities is preferred.
Travel may be required. Valid California Driver’s License (CDL) and reliable transportation, or acceptable substitute, required.
Skills include decision making and strong verbal and written communication/ presentation skills.
Must work effectively with diverse groups of people.
Bilingual assessment skills are particularly needed.
Psychologist vendor must be eligible for vendorization as required under California Code of Regulations, Title 17, Sections 54300 to 54390, Vendorization.
The Psychologist vendor is an independent contractor. Schedule and hours are variable. Referrals are not guaranteed by NLACRC. The Psychologist Vendor must have professional liability insurance and comply with NLACRC’s Insurance Policy. Mileage and travel is not reimbursed. Reimbursement is based on statutory requirements and Medi-Cal rate structure and varies depending on scope of assessment and testing instruments used. A typical reimbursement for a complete diagnostic assessment of autism and intellectual disability may range from $528-$644 per report depending on the complexity of the case and type of testing performed.
