Dear NLACRC Community,<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I am happy to share some very good news: as of August 21, 2025, the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) has greatly amended the Special Contract Language with North Los Angeles County Regional Center (NLACRC). Requirements for consultants and legal oversight of the board have been lifted, recognizing that NLACRC has built the infrastructure necessary to operate effectively without additional assistance. The board governance requirements have been met, and we have made significant progress in reducing caseload ratios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To provide context, on July 16, 2024, NLACRC entered into Special Contract Language with DDS due to concerns about board governance and organizational effectiveness, largely tied to high caseload ratios. As part of that agreement, DDS required us to bring in several consultants to support our remediation efforts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In just over a year, through the tireless work of our staff and the dedication of our Board of Trustees, we have demonstrated that NLACRC is capable of not only meeting but sustaining the expectations set forth by DDS. While there is still more work ahead, this achievement reflects our shared commitment to ensuring that our community receives the high-quality services it needs and deserves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are grateful for DDS\u2019 partnership and, most importantly, for the support of our community as we continue to strengthen NLACRC for the future. We acknowledge that there is still a lot of work to be done and are appreciative that we have made significant strides in the right direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
