SEBASTIAN AVALOS
“I hope that he’s able to accomplish a lot of things. I want to put him in sports if his health lets him … and hopefully he’ll go to high school, college, have a career, and enjoy life.”
- Judith Avalos
At the tender age of four, Sebastian Avalos has already experienced more than his share of hospital visits.
Born early at 34 weeks, and diagnosed with Down syndrome, he required resuscitation and oxygen at birth. His early medical complications included stenosis of the small intestine and he needed a series of blood platelet transfusions. His mother Judith spent a lot of time at the hospital the first month of his life.
“I was dealing with a hurricane of emotions. You don’t know what to do or why this is happening, and you wonder what other people are going to think,” says Judith. continue >>
